The Patriotic Festival celebrates our Armed Forces for two days of concerts and military displays at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. Being home to one of the largest concentrations of military installations in the United States, Hampton Roads is proud of its military heritage.
The festival opens on May 29, 2009 with a country twang in the air. Gary Allan will headline while the up and coming Zac Brown Band opens the night. Gary Allan has released seven studio albums with many hits including “Nothing On But The Radio,” and “Watching Airplanes.” The Zac Brown Band have just found mainstream success with their album “The Foundation,” which features the hits “Chicken Fried” and “Whatever It Is.”
Saturday night will bring the reigning American Idol, David Cook, to the beach. After becoming the seventh American Idol champion in 2008, Cook has found continued success on top of the charts, including his number one hit, “The Time of My Life.” Opening for Cook will be Matt Nathanson, who is gaining more national attention with his song “Come On Get Higher.”
The Patriotic Festival ends with an Air and Sea Show on Sunday, May 31st, 2009. All events are free and open to the public with select reserved seating available of purchase for both nights of concerts.
